This series testify to the presence of Julien Paquin, S.J in different missions, in particular in Northern Ontario, in Killarney, Spanish, and Port-Arthur, and of his involvement in the Jesuit Mission Academy.
The series testifies to the way in which the Jesuits managed the Holy Cross Mission and other parishes’ property, the issues involved in managing buildings such as churches, schools or Jesuit residences, and their relation to the territories they visited, between 1871 and 1986. A prominent part of the series concerns the restoration project of the stone residence at Wiikwemkoong, after it was almost destroyed by a fire in 1954.
The series is divided into two files: Movable Property, Building Management and Territories; Insurance Claims and Settlements. It contains correspondence, architectural plans, maps, inventories and a significant number of photographs which provide information about the missions’ buildings, but also about the territories they visited and the landscapes they saw.
The fonds includes records pertaining to Brother Vandermoor’s religious life including transcribed prayers and prayer cards as well as a spiritual notebook. Receipts and correspondence, particularly with the residential school in Spanish, Ontario, as well as vehicle motor repair certifications and correspondence about the mechanics class Brother Vandermoor oversaw at Spanish are also included in the fonds.

The series provides information about the activities held in the parishes of the Holy Cross of Wiikwemkoong, Gore Bay, M'chigeeng (West Bay/Excelsior), Sheguiandah, Sheshegwaning, Spanish River and Lake Huron North Shore, mainly between 1952 and 2004. It documents the catholic celebrations and special events, as well as the communities’ daily life and members.
The series is divided into three files: Parish Communications; Parish Anniversaries and Catholic Celebrations; Social Gatherings and Community Members. It contains a significant number of bulletins addressed to the parishioners of Manitoulin Island, Wiikwemkoong and other regions of Northern Ontario, as well as photographs, programs, speeches and communications in connection with Parish Anniversaries, catholic celebrations and other events.
The fonds contains correspondence from the 1940s between Paul Méry, S.J. and the Provincial at Regiopolis College. It also contains one portrait photograph of him.
Méry, PaulThe fonds contains correspondence from the 1870s and 1880s written by Pierre Hamel, S.J. mostly addressed to other Jesuits at Immaculée-Conception in Montreal. Two photograph portraits of Father Hamel, a small hand-painted booklet dedicated to Father Hamel from a school, and an official 1887 Jesuit document (written in Latin) can also be found in the fonds.
Hamel, PierreThe series testifies to the Jesuits’ involvement in the implementation and management of schools meant to educate Indigenous children. It mainly focuses on the Spanish Residential School.
The series is divided into two sub-series: Fort William and Lake Superior schools; and Residential Schools. It contains attendance reports, historical notes, correspondence and observations about school matters, lists of Ontario residential schools and students, communications written by the Spanish Reunion Committee, and a scrapbook. The series also contains photographs, mainly of students, staff, and buildings of the Spanish Residential School.
