Scope and content

The series contains photographs created by the students at the Spanish Residential Schools and Fr. William Maurice, S.J. The photographs were developed in an amateur photography laboratory started by Maurice. Students took photographs and were responsible for developing and printing them. Maurice kept the negatives and some prints. The photographs in the series, taken by the students, represent their perspective on school community life and activities. The photographs, all taken outdoors, depict the residential school’s students, especially the girls at St. Joseph’s.
