Scope and content

The series testifies to the way in which the Jesuits managed the Holy Cross Mission and other parishes’ property, the issues involved in managing buildings such as churches, schools or Jesuit residences, and their relation to the territories they visited, between 1871 and 1986. A prominent part of the series concerns the restoration project of the stone residence at Wiikwemkoong, after it was almost destroyed by a fire in 1954.

The series is divided into two files: Movable Property, Building Management and Territories; Insurance Claims and Settlements. It contains correspondence, architectural plans, maps, inventories and a significant number of photographs which provide information about the missions’ buildings, but also about the territories they visited and the landscapes they saw.
